This is an excellent condition Zenith De Luca, one of the rarest modern Zeniths. It is very difficult to come across, and a very sought after wristwatch. The De Luca has the renowned and venerable Zenith el Primero movement. The el Primero has been long regarded by watch experts the world over, as the finest automatic chronograph movement ever made. It has in the past been used in some of the most celebrated watch companies watches in the world for use in their own watches. Zenith began production in Switzerland in 1865 and are one of the few companies that can call themselves a manufacturer, as they design, manufacture and assemble all components in their own factories. The De Luca was only made for a few years, when there was a relationship between Zenith and Rolex as Rolex used the el Primero movement in the Daytona Cosmograph. The De Luca looked very similar to the Daytona which caused some issues and they eventually ceased production. This model is the black dial with white sub registers, and is almost identical to the Rolex Daytona. It is a beautifully designed watch with a nice evenly laid out dial, with the sub dials in the tri compax design, providing a perfect dial balance. The subsidiary seconds is at the 9 position, the thirty minute elapsed timer is at the 3 position, the twelve hour elapsed timer is at the six position and the chronograph 0 second elapsed timer is the large sweep second hand. It has a quick set date in the 4 position, sapphire crystal, sturdy and tight uni directional ratchet operated rotating bezel, and a tachometric scale in the outer chapter. It is all stainless steel and comes on a heavy oyster style bracelet with deployment buckle with safety clasp and wetsuit extension. It has a signed clasp, back, crown, dial and no doubt the movement is signed too. The watch is 100 metres water resistant. It comes with the original paper work, instructions and warranty card and receipt indicating it was bought at Swiss in 1993. Genuine Zenith box. Dimensions are: width is 40 mm excluding crown, 44 mm including crown and 46 mm lug to lug and thickness is 13.5 mm. The watch has a transparent back and other original massive steel caseback.
