Jesus, al final es o no ostentación y pretensión el que llevar un reloj con complicaciónes...parece un gallego razonando , me recuerda a alguno de mis tios de Villalba

Yo tampoco lo entiendo bien, será que mi inglés empieza a fallar.
Todo elemento que no tenga una utilidad y una eficiencia/eficacia máxima es "ostentación" en un sentido amplio del término, o al menos es un complemento sin otra utilidad que su posesión y dsifrute, personal y social, pero eso es consustancial a la naturaleza humana,se dá y se ha dado en todas las civilizaciones y en todos los periodos históricos, está claro que, depende del poder adquisitivo de cada uno, esta "ostentación" 8que no tiene por que ser obsesíón ni posesión, puede ser simple admiración) adopta formas distintas. Sin ilusiones y simbolos no seríamos seres humanos, seríamos robots o animales.

Según él, sí lo es, y el nuevo reloj de GP es algo así como el chaval que gritaba que el emperador iba desnudo. Lo que ocurre es que dudo mucho que esa fuera la verdadera intención de GP, y estoy seguro de que Dowling lo sabe, así que apostaría a que todo el texto no es más que un divertido sarcasmo
