"... Miyoko Quartz is my dad's brand--he started it in Hong Kong in 1979 and at its peak his watches were sold everywhere. My father moved to Hong Kong in 1969 from India and singlehandedly ran a team of local Chinese assemblers and admin staff, Indian QC and packaging staff and a Filipino foreman. I still have quite a few of his Hong Kong-made pieces to sell, and then there will be no more by the looks of things. As for the Miyota link--dad used Miyota 2035 movements in most of his watches, but he was also awarded a settlement by Citizen because the Miyota name was too close to his brand name. He took a lot of people to court in his time, including counterfeiters, and his brand was distributed on every continent but Antarctica. Sure, they are just simple, HK-made watches, but he always tried to offer better quality than any of the other HK manufacturers at a given price point, and he did very well in the twenty-odd years he ran a factory here in Hong Kong..."
